Synagogue Cantors and Bar Mitzvah Tutors Teach Trope Skills using our Trope Lesson Page
Each trope lesson page is titled with the cantillation style, the lesson number, and the trope sequence. You can see the list of lesson styles and trope sequences by clicking on them, and can select a specific one from the resulting dropdown. Clicking either of the blue arrowheads (< and >) near the top at the left or right edge goes to the previous or next lesson in the current style.
When first displayed, the page displays the trope names with their embedded symbols, both in transliteration and Hebrew, and plays the sequence, highlighting each trope as it plays. You can play a particular trope by clicking on it, and play the entire sequence by clicking the PLAY button. You can control the speed and pitch of playback by adjusting the horizontal and vertical sliders just below the PLAY button, and you can pause and resume playback with the spacebar. You can record yourself by clicking the RECORD button, clicking the button (now labeled FINISH) a second time to complete the recording. Once the recording has been sent to the server, you can review it by clicking Play Last Recording which appears under RECORD. Your recordings will be made available for listening and commenting on your recordings list which can be accessed from the hamburger menu item Recordings.
If you want to see and hear examples of the trope sequence as it appears in Biblical verses, click the EXAMPLE button. Initially, examples play the trope names, but you can have them play the actual cantillated words by clicking off the Tropename Substitution checkbox. Clicking EXAMPLE advances to the next example, while clicking TROPES returns to the trope sequence itself, where you can click EXAMPLE to return to the example you were just viewing.
