Singing Torah provides an integrated bar/bat mitzvah learning system that automatically synchronizes the voice of each student’s cantor with the underlying Hebrew Bible text.
The Singing Torah is the integrated bar and bat mitzvah learning system that makes learning more enjoyable for both teacher and student. It helps cantors and tutors work individually with each of their students more effectively and efficiently. It is a tool for synagogues to standardize, guide, and monitor the tutor-led bar and bat mitzvah education process. This Internet-based platform allows tutors to teach from their own homes, without need for commuting, and review student progress on their own schedules. Tutors can provide their students with audio recordings of trope and verses. Singing Torah provides students with the ability to practice on their own time, recording verses for their tutors to review and provide feedback on. The system tracks student progress, thus encouraging students and providing reassurance to their parents.
How to Teach with Singing Torah
- The teacher records or uploads Torah and Haftarah verses for student.
- The teacher demonstrates how to listen to recorded audio with Hebrew Bible text highlighted word-by-word, as the student’s cantor chants each verse.
- At home, the student listens to and practices individual words, verses, or sequences of verses, stopping or repeating as needed.
- The student can record their practice to review together with their teacher, or to submit for teacher feedback.
